An example
take new job in denver or stay new job pays 15k more would be 2 hr flight from my parents, now 20 min drive hate my commute now, 1hr each way family matters most
Take the Denver job Pros: $15k more a year. You leave the hour-each-way commute behind (check what the Denver one would be). Cons: Your parents go from a 20-minute drive to a 2-hour flight. Visits become planned trips. Stay where you are Pros: Your parents stay close, and nothing needs uprooting. Cons: The long commute stays, and so does your current pay. What to weigh: you said family matters most. If seeing your parents often is part of your week, that loss is bigger than it looks on paper.
