Privacy policy

This policy covers the Preener AI Keyboard app for Android (package ai.preener.app) and the preener.ai website. Preener is responsible for the data described here. Questions go to [email protected].

These are stored only on your device and are never sent to us:

• your ordinary typing, and the typing history the keyboard uses to suggest words;
• your keyboard settings, theme and text shortcuts;
• drafts you haven’t finished, so you don’t lose them if the app closes.

Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes this data, apart from anything your phone’s own backup keeps.

Your account. Your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile photo. We email you sign-in codes.

Text you ask us to work on. When you tap an AI button or run an action, we receive that text and any details or files you add.

Copied messages. When you tap Reply to clipboard, we receive the text you copied. Reply actions may also use text you copied in the last ten minutes. Clipboard content your phone marks as sensitive is skipped.

Voice. Voice typing uses your phone’s speech recognition service. We receive only the written transcript, to tidy it up.

Tone check. When a message is at least 15 characters long and you pause typing, the keyboard sends that text and the kind of app you’re in (for example, a messaging app) so it can warn you if the message may come across as harsh.

What you save. Writing you keep in your Library, your writing preferences and your keyboard buttons, so they’re there after you reinstall or switch phones.

Usage and subscription. How much AI help you’ve used today, and your Pro status from Google Play. We never see your payment details.

App integrity. Google Play Integrity confirms that requests come from the genuine Preener app, which protects your account and our service from abuse.

AI features never run in password fields. The app collects no analytics, crash reports, advertising ID or location.

To produce a result, we send your text to an AI provider: OpenAI by default, and in some cases Google (Gemini) or Amazon Web Services (Bedrock). We turn off provider-side storage of requests wherever the provider allows it, and we don’t use your writing to train AI models.

• Results you don’t save: deleted within 24 hours.
• Items you delete: kept in Trash for 30 days, then erased.
• Saved writing and preferences: until you delete them or your account.
• Sign-in codes and expired sessions: removed within an hour of expiring.

We don’t sell or rent your data. We use a small number of service providers, only to run Preener:

• AI processing: OpenAI, Google and Amazon Web Services.
• Cloud hosting and database providers for our servers.
• Storage of files you attach: Backblaze.
• Sign-in emails: Amazon Web Services.
• Google sign-in, Google Play subscriptions and Play Integrity: Google.

These providers may process data outside your country, under the safeguards the law requires.

• Internet, for AI features and your account.
• Microphone, only while you use voice typing.
• Vibration, for key-press feedback if you turn it on.

When you turn on any keyboard that isn’t built in, Android shows a standard notice that it may be able to collect what you type. This page explains exactly what Preener does.

Follow the steps on preener.ai/delete-account. We erase your account, saved writing, preferences and attached files within 30 days. Subscriptions are managed by Google Play, so cancel yours there too.

The website sets no cookies unless you allow analytics. Website analytics is off until you choose to enable it. If you do, we use Google Analytics 4 to count page visits and install-button clicks, with a pseudonymous browser identifier, general device and browser details, and approximate city. Advertising features and Google Signals are turned off.

Event-level analytics data has a two-month retention period. Google explains its processing in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email us and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Preener isn’t meant for children under 13, or the minimum age in your country, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above before the change takes effect.
